Internet Radio Player II Online Help


Internet Radio Player II provides content from ICECAST (icecast.org).
You can choose from 50 genres. The player will randomly select and play a station from the genre you have selected.

Operation screen

Genre switching buttons

Select the audio genre that you want to hear.

Tuning buttons

Use the and buttons to tune a station.
Use the [Reconnect] button to reconnect when the connection to the station is lost.
Even if the [Reconnect] button is not used, the player will automatically attempt to reconnect for a certain period of time.

Information window A

This window displays either information about the audio content that is playing or the player status. While the content is playing, the name of the artist and name of the content are displayed. The player status is displayed when the system is searching for a station or when the connection is first established.

Information window B

This window displays information about the station that is being received. When audio is being played, the bit rate and sampling frequency address are also displayed. In addition, the information displayed may include a Web site address related to the broadcast.

Magic window C

This window opens and closes according to the amount of sound distortion contained in the content that is being played. A closed window indicates high sound quality. This window does not provide status based on the bit rate or sampling frequency.

Magic window B

This window opens and closes according to the amount of the audio stream that is being buffered internally. When the remaining buffer capacity is insufficient, the window opens and the sound is likely to be interrupted.

Magic window P

This window opens and closes according to the ratio of the assumed bps value and actual measured bps value of the data stream that is being broadcast. When the window is open, the sound is likely to be interrupted.

Station tuning guide

The small windows light up in blue according to the number of stations that can be received in the selected genre. You can use the tuning buttons to move the semi-transparent tuning bar.

Sleep timer button *

This button sets the PSP™ system to enter sleep mode after a certain period of time. The duration before the system enters sleep mode can be set in 15-minute increments, up to two hours. The amount of time before the system enters sleep mode is displayed to the left of this button.

* To use this feature, you must update your PSP™ system software to version 3.93 or later.

Sound effect button A

This button switches the sound effect (change in frequency of the audio content) on or off when the received station is switched.

Sound effect button B

This button switches the sound effect (steady tone) on or off when the received station is switched.

Sound effect button C

This button is linked to [Sound effect button B] when [Sound effect button B] is on. It switches the sound effect of button B to a sound similar to Morse code.

Sound effect button D

This button switches the sound effect (static noise) on or off when no broadcast can be received.

Help screen display button

This button displays this help screen.
To return to the radio player screen, press the L or R button while pressing the button of the PSP™ system.

START button

You can mute the audio by pressing the START button of the PSP™ system. You can restore the audio by pressing the START button again.

Cold spots (four corners of the screen)

If you place the pointer on any of these spots, the PSP™ system's backlight will turn off after a certain period of time (when the AC adaptor is used).
